Dr. Cano graduated as a Surgeon, Obstetrician and Gynecologist from the Institute of Health Sciences. He completed a sub-specialization in Reproductive Endocrinology at the Valencian Institute of Fertility in Spain, one of the most prestigious fertility centers in the world, and a Masters in Assisted Reproduction at the University of Valencia in the same country.
Co-founder of Inser in 1995, the first centre in the city of Medellin focused on the study and management of infertility. In 2000, he travelled back to Spain to practice for two years as an IVI member doctor in the city of Murcia.
In his professional career he was distinguished as President of the Colombian Association of Fertility and Sterility and as President of the Association of Gynecologists and Obstetricians of the region.
Currently Dr. Cano is a professor at the University of Antioquia in the postgraduate program, holding the same position at the Pontifical Bolivarian University and the CES University. He created and co-directs the first sub-specialization program in Reproductive Medicine in Colombia.
